JOB DESCRIPTION

The Associate Director, Food and Health Communication, develops, manages and execute programs aimed at educating and engaging leading food and health professionals about beef’s role as a food for health. This role is responsible for guiding and directing outreach for beef nutrition resources to health and fitness professionals through educational opportunities, partnerships and ongoing relationship development, ultimately providing increased visibility for beef and its benefits among this important audience. 
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops process to identify and nurture new and existing relationships with food, health, nutrition and fitness professionals.
  • Prompts new thinking and creates opportunities to communicate beef’s story to health and fitness professionals through tactics such as influencer outreach, speaking engagements and immersion experiences.
  • Serve as beef nutrition expert for food and health influencer audiences, industry stakeholders and the media.
  • Serves as nutrition content reviewer for programming. Partners with other beef checkoff departments on projects and content that reach/relate to the food and health influencer audience.
  • Works with campaign leaders to develop nutrition programming and content and is responsible for on-time, on-budget and successful execution of several elements of the plan according to the AR and plan of work.
  • Provides strategy and counsel to Federation Services and state beef councils with local food and health influencer outreach.
  • Works with team members throughout the organization and other industry stakeholders to provide nutrition insights, technical support and expertise.
  • Leads food and health influencer activities, including partnerships and program development Supervises staff and coaches junior team members.
  • Coordinates with agencies and other contractors to successfully execute the plan in a timely and on-budget manner.
  • Contributes nutrition expertise and serves as an influencer voice for other strategic campaigns in order to ensure that we’re providing food and health influencers with the well-rounded information that they need
  • Implements, tracks, interprets and reports KPI/measurement outcomes.
  • Proactively adjusts plans to improve outcomes.
  • Manages individual relationships with health professional advocates including Registered Dietitian Nutritionists and Medical Doctors.
  • Stays abreast of new technologies and tools for communicating with health professionals.
  • Contributes to internal teams and provides presentation support as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • The candidate for Associate Director, Food and Health Communication, must be a registered dietitian with 5-7 years of experience working with the health professional community and excellent communication and writing skills.
  • She/he must have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to understand and translate complex scientific information for health professional and lay audiences.
  • The candidate must be detail-oriented, adaptable, self-directed and a team player.
  • She/he should be able to perform well under intense pressure or periodic heavy workloads.
  • Must have a passion for working for America’s farmers and ranchers.
  • The position requires occasional travel and meeting attendance.
  • This individual will be evaluated on the results of work performed and his or her contributions to the department’s and organization’s success
