JOB DESCRIPTION

Work as a member of the organization’s communications team contributing content to television, print and web platforms. The Associate Director of Organizational Communications will be responsible for writing and managing content and production for the National Cattlemen, NCBA’s monthly newspaper, and the annual Directions magazine.  This position will be responsible for contributing content to the overall NCBA communications strategy and managing complex projects for a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders with support to NCBA’s Cattlemen to Cattlemen television show and NCBA’s digital and social media properties. In addition, this position will support communication and program efforts of NCBA’s sustainability work, including the U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (USRSB). Candidate should be a self-starter and must able to work with minimal direct supervision at times. Travel is required and may be extensive at times.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for production of National Cattlemen and Directions print publications including content, editorial, design, and print production functions
  • Assists with the development and implementation of NCBA’s digital strategy
  • Manages sustainability communications for NCBA and the USRSB
  • Works with the Corporate Relations and Events team to identify additional opportunities for revenue development with organizational communications media properties
  • Supports NCBA’s Cattlemen to Cattlemen (C2C) as needed
  • Occasionally works as field producer on both sponsor-related and NCBA driven television production
  • Manages budget for print and web media properties
  • Facilitates editorial meetings and actively contributes content ideas
  • Facilitates communications and supports across departments to create and share content
  • Creates resources to better communicate with members
  • Supports conventions and conferences, providing direction and support for external media on-site
  • Keeps up to date of agriculture industry news
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in agricultural communications, journalism, public relations or marketing and at least 2-4 years of relevant experience, and 1-2 years minimum of publication experience.
  • A background in livestock or agricultural production practices is required.
  • Successful candidates should have strong organizational skills, writing, editing and communication skills and the ability to work closely with clients.
  • Experience in television production and/or newsroom experience is a plus.
  • Candidate must have a commitment to upholding beef’s position as the preferred protein and should possess a passion for working for America’s farmers and ranchers.
  • Travel, at times extensive, is required in this position.
